Family Room

We have been working on the family room forever. At least that what it feels like. Here are some shots of our progress. We're not quite done, but we are definitely getting there.

I didn't get a "before" picture. The beams and walls were originally the same color.

There's one corner to show sort of what it looked like before. We started by doing all the beams ultra pure white with a satin finish.

The room was such a mess.

We tried 8 different color samples before we found "burnished clay" that we used. Also in a satin finish.

We bought 2 gallons of paint. Then Andy decided it was too dark. We waited a few weeks and then went for it. I really like it.

Andy and my dad did all the really high stuff. It really stressed me out.

Once the walls were done we knew the fireplace needed to be done next. Here's a shot before.

It took me 2 hours to prime the top!

Andy was much faster at painting the bricks than I was. We primed the whole thing, then painted almost all of it white. It didn't look right. We tried a sample of "elephant skin" gray. Also satin finish. Much better.

We finally got the bricks all done. (More like my mom got the bricks all done.)

Then the mantle needed some help.
