Pizza Sauce

This is a pretty good recipe for pizza sauce that I have been using. It's fast, easy and I know how to freeze it. It's another recipe from budgetbytes.

Here's the website: http://budgetbytes.blogspot.com/2011/08/thick-rich-pizza-sauce-240-recipe-020.html

Here's the recipe:

INGREDIENTS

1 Tbsp olive oil

1 tsp minced garlic

1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes

1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste

1/2 Tbsp sugar

3/4 tsp salt

1 tsp basil

1/2 tsp dried oregano

10-20 cranks fresh cracked pepper

a pinch crushed red pepper (optional)

STEP 1: Add the olive oil and garlic to a medium pot and cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes.

STEP 2: Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir until evenly combined. Add the rest of the ingredients, stir to combine, and adjust seasoning to your preference.

STEP 3: Allow the pot to come to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let cook for about 10 minutes.

If you are planning to freeze all or a portion of the sauce, chill it in the refrigerator before transferring to the freezer.
