Early Trick or Treat!

Saturday we went to a Fall Festival one of the local malls hosted. Usually this mall has all of the shops and restaurants hand out candy, so that's what we were expecting. We dressed up the boys and drove on over. Abe has been excited to be an army man for several months now, so that's what he was and Eli was a fireman, since that is one of the few costumes that almost fit him. It was kind of a let down when we got there because they didn't have candy. They did have some fun things like pumpkin bowling, horse carriage rides, animal balloons, some crafts and a live band. The music was loud, and poor Abe didn't like it one bit. We weren't there 5 minutes before we realized there wasn't any candy, so we left and went to the store to buy some, since that's what we had promised the boys. It was fun to dress the boys up:

Yesterday the boys and I went to the city across the river to do their downtown trick or treating. It was a beautiful day and the boys were great. Well, Abe didn't want to go at first, and threw a minor tantrum, but I did the sensible thing and ignored the screaming boy in the car seat behind me and made him go. After the first few shops where he got the candy he warmed up to the idea. Then he was running from store to store to get more candy. Eli was Spiderman and Abe was an army man again.

We were out for less than an hour, but we got a lot of candy. It's a good thing I already set a goal to show self control or I'd have eaten it all by now!
